How much does the plumber license prep program cost?
As with any educational program, you’ll need to plan ahead so that you can budget for your training needs. We require that all tuition be paid prior to the first class of each semester. We offer classes in Crystal Lake, IL in the fall and spring. You can pay by semester or yearly with the costs as follows:
- $700 per semester
- $1,300 per year
On average, our courses cost at least $100 less than comparable courses offered at other technical and community colleges in Illinois.
How does a plumbing apprenticeship work?
To hold a plumber apprenticeship, you must first acquire a sponsor. A sponsor is required in order for your time as a student to be counted towards an apprenticeship. Illinois Plumbing Consultants does not act as a sponsor (Note that you are always welcome to take classes without a sponsor just to learn, but they will not count towards your four years).
What sets IPC apart?
IPC’s plumbing courses are taught by industry professionals who understand the unique demands of Illinois markets. With over a century of combined experience, our teachers know their craft well. Instructors include current plumbers and plumbing inspectors who will provide keen insight into what new plumbers need to know and understand. While up-and-coming plumbers can get training at local trade schools and community colleges, our program is unique in the fact that it provides guidance directly from these industry experts.
When will I need to attend class?
The Illinois Plumbing License Prep program holds classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesday classes are presentations and lectures, while Thursdays classes are practical application of the items taught in the classroom. Because the classes build on one another, students will need to plan to attend regularly. Classes are held in Chicago and Rockford.
Do I need any other training prior to attending the IPC program?
Students should have a high school degree or equivalent, but other college instruction is not a prerequisite for this program. Students should consider pursuing classes in math and science to best prepare themselves for this career. Also, plumbers who plan to launch their own businesses will benefit from some business training.
What types of classes are available through IPC?
Illinois Plumbing Consultants offers three basic types of training. Our primary program is the Plumbing License Prep course. This two-semester course teaches students all they need to know to pass the Illinois plumbing exam and get an apprenticeship.
In addition, we offer a changing schedule of continuing education programs designed to help current plumbers stay abreast of the changes in the industry and get continuing education to help them excel.
Finally, we offer the Illinois Mock Test. While not a training program, the Illinois Mock Test will give students a chance to practice for the real plumbing exam, so they can see what areas they need to improve before paying for and taking the real exam.
This combination helps make IPC stand out as one of the top Illinois plumber training programs available.
Can IPC help me get an apprenticeship or fulfill apprenticeship requirements?
The training from IPC makes helps those in an apprenticeship, but the program does not serve as a sponsor. If you wish for your time in the courses to count towards your apprenticeship, you must have a sponsor before applying for the program.
