Why Do Plumbers Need Continuing Education Hours?

Posted on: October 18, 2013

Under Illinois state law, you must complete post-secondary education, pass a licensing exam and complete an apprenticeship before you can work independently as a plumber. However, the requirements don’t stop there. You must also complete four hours of continuing education for plumbers every year in order to renew your license. These hours must be completed by May 1 of each year. At Illinois Plumbing Consultants in Crystal Lake, IL, we make it easy for you to complete your continuing education requirements so you can continue to make your living as a licensed plumber.

What to Expect from Our Continuing Education Classes

Illinois Plumbing Consultants knows that your time is valuable. That is why we have made it possible for you to complete all four hours of your continuing education requirements in one Saturday class. Each course is taught by an experienced licensed plumber who is passionate about his or her work and enjoys teaching the tricks of the trade. Every class that we teach provides you with the following:

  • Demonstration of advanced plumbing techniques
  • Exploration of technology and other changes in the plumbing industry
  • Provides comprehensive information about plumbing codes

Easy Online Registration

We understand that you don’t want to waste your valuable time waiting on hold or mailing in a registration form to secure your spot in one of our continuing education classes. When you use our online registration form, you can be done with the process in just a few minutes. We need your name and address, employer’s name and address, your telephone number, your email address and your Illinois license number, which should begin with 058. If you have a Chicago license number, it should begin with J or BC. You must include both numbers if you have been issued both licenses. On the day of your continuing education class, you must present one or both licenses in order to receive credit.

Other Services Offered by Illinois Plumbing Consultants

Our company serves the educational needs of plumbers at every stage of their career. We offer the mock Illinois exam to give future plumbers the opportunity to know the types of skills they will be tested on during the actual exam. Some of the areas covered on the mock exam include drawing, practical plumbing applications, PVC, copper and cast iron. We also offer a plumber apprenticeship program to help you get the on-the-job experience you need as well as meet state licensing requirements.
