Books, Tools and Materials
In addition to paying your tuition, you’ll need to buy a copy of the Illinois Plumbing Code, which currently costs $40. It’s also important that you own all the tools necessary to complete your plumbing apprenticeship program. Invest in good tools now as you will be using them throughout your career. >> See books here
State Licensing
To hold a plumber apprenticeship, you must first acquire a sponsor. A sponsor is required in order for your time as a student to be counted towards an apprenticeship. Illinois Plumbing Consultants does not act as a sponsor. (Note that you are always welcome to take classes without a sponsor just to learn, but they will not count towards your four years.) Next, you will need to have a license from the state. This license costs $50. In order to apply, you must be sponsored by a bonded, licensed plumber.
